Spearheaded by the creative force of chef/owner Haley, this will be the fith restaurant from SoDel Concepts, the award-winning group who also created Bluecoast Seafood Grill in North Bethany Beach, Fish On in Lewes, Catch 54 in Fenwick Island and Northeast Seafood Kitchen in Ocean View. Spiaggia, Haley’s first Italian themed restaurant will continue the model of excellent food, service, and atmosphere set by its predecessors, offering fresh classic coastal Italian cuisine. The emphasis will remain on fresh, local, traditional selections in a fun, upbeat, high-energy setting. Diners can expect familiar faces and dishes with an updated décor of simple vibrancy. Once again, designer Bryony Zeigler will design Haley’s restaurant. Slated to open in Spring/Summer ’08, the new spot, joined with the newly built Hotel Rehoboth, will be open year round. Dinner will be served from 4:00 and a late night menu will be available. Spiaggia will also spotlight Saturday and Sunday brunch. Since moving to the area nine years ago, Haley, a Washington, D.C. native, has built a strong relationship with the lower Delaware community. He can be seen regularly teaching cooking on television on Comcast’s RVG channel, Sea Colony’s “Beach Eats” program, and monthly morning segments on local morning news channels. He writes about his experiences in publications such as The Coastal Point newspaper, Travel Host Magazine and The Bystander Magazine. He also makes personal appearances at monthly Food Chat series held at Fish On in Lewes De. and devotes much of his time to youth outreach for troubled teens and other various local organizations. He says of the new project, “we have researched our Italian theme for years now and were waiting for the right time and spot in Rehoboth Beach”.
