restaurant, Catch 54. |
Local 'Catch' coming to old seafood locale
By Sara Smith, Staff Writer
Delaware's newest restaurant is going to be a throwback to the
halcyon summers of the Eastern Shore back in the day.
"Here is a Delaware or Maryland old school fish house," said Matt
Haley, owner of the new Catch 54 Fish House and Marina.
"We want you to be able to say, 'God, I feel like I'm in Maryland,
or I feel like I'm in Delaware,'" he said. "When people come to the
beach, they don't want something they've never heard of. They want
crab cakes."
Haley said the restaurant will primarily offer fish and seafood fare
such as crab, tuna, salmon, tautog, sea bass and trout. He's trying
to incorporate local fish into the menu.
Catch 54 is located at the former site of Shark's Cove Restaurant
and Marina on Route 54 in Fenwick Island. The new restaurant, like
Shark's Cove, will have boat slips and outdoor dining. The
restaurant has two floors as well as a banquet room for large
parties.
Haley and his company SoDel Concepts own three other local
restaurants: Bluecoast Seafood Grill in North Bethany, Fish On in
Lewes and Northeast Seafood Kitchen in Ocean View.
While all the menus offer something a little different, they share
some key elements. Food is prepared simply with "nothing but the
highest in quality products," Haley said. "They're classic beach
eats, always fresh."
And SoDel is looking to incorporate some local recipes into the
restaurant's local flavor. They're taking beach food recipe
suggestions and will feature the winning recipe on the menu. To
